Palm Springs is rolling out three full days of All-American celebration, and the best part is that almost all of it is free.
Thursday, July 2: The Kickoff
VillageFest Independence Day Party · 7:00–10:00 PM · Palm Canyon Drive · Free · The beloved weekly street fair gets a holiday twist. Expect live music, games, crafts, and free snow cones (while supplies last).
Friday, July 3: Dive-In Movie Night
Free Dive-In Movie at the Swim Center · 6:00 PM open swim, 7:00 PM movie · Palm Springs Swim Center · Free open swim and a screening of the summer classic The Sandlot. Bring a swimsuit and a lawn chair.
Saturday, July 4: The Main Event
All-American Pool Party & Concert · 3:00–10:00 PM · Sunrise Park & Swim Center Free swimming, face painting, and an All-American History Wall. At 7:00 PM, a free concert with Turn The Page, a Bob Seger tribute band.
America 250: Allies in Liberty · Starts 2:00 PM · Palm Springs Air Museum · A salute to the historic US–France aviation friendship, with live music, food vendors, and a static display of a French aerobatic jet. It culminates at dusk with a valley-wide flyover by vintage planes including a C-47 and P-51 Mustangs.
Fireworks Spectacular · 9:15 PM sharp · Sunrise Park · The night caps off with a massive pyrotechnic show. Grab a spot on the grass at Sunrise Park or in open areas nearby.
⚽ World Cup Mania Hits the Desert
You don't need a ticket to SoFi Stadium to feel the excitement. As the organization works to recover, community support will play an important role in helping it reopen its doors.

Backstory may be one of downtown Palm Springs' newest shops, but it already feels like the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again. Owned by wife-and-wife team Mary Hennesy and Amy Schafer, the boutique is filled with beautifully curated gifts, home décor, locally made finds and plenty of treasures worth treating yourself to. We caught up with Mary to talk about the journey from St. Louis to Palm Springs, what makes Backstory different, and why the desert finally feels like home.

The valley’s favorite street fair runs all month and some weeks have unique themes. Summer hours: 7–10 p.m.

🎶 Live Music at Agua Caliente
With festival season on pause, the casino stages carry July’s live music. Early highlights: Tom Keifer & L.A. Guns on July 2 and The Commodores on July 3. Check the calendar as the month fills in.
🎥 Lights Up at The Plaza 🎬
The beautifully restored Plaza Theatre is beating the summer heat with Movies. ☀️ July opens with a screening of Jaws 🦈 on July 5 followed by Grease (sing-a-long) on July 11. ❄️🎶 August rolls on with Frozen (sing-a-long) on August 8 and The Wizard of Oz on August 22.

💋 Marilyn’s 100th was great and record-breaking! Hundreds of glamorous lookalikes filled downtown for Palm Springs Pride’s tribute, officially setting a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Marilyn Monroes ever. We should make it an annual MarilynCon!
🍣 Fish lovers, rejoice! Guamúchil, the beloved Coachella sushi-and-seafood spot, is opening a second location in the former IHOP at 471 S. Indian Canyon Drive. The food on their Instagram looks amazing. We’re already hungry.
🍔 The Heyday crew is expanding! Charly’s Neighborhood is taking shape in the old Emerald and Sage dispensary at 2155 N. Palm Canyon Drive. They’re staying mum on the menu, but pizza’s been whispered. We’ll be watching.
☕ A new café is under construction inside the Festival Theaters movie house, per staff there. Popcorn AND a latte? Yes, please.
🐦 F10 Concepts (the Birba, Cheeky’s and Mr. Lyons folks) has a mystery venture called Bird coming to 211 Palm Canyon Drive, right across the lot from Mr. Lyons. The website tells us almost nothing. The intrigue!
⭐ Congrats to Alice B. at Living Out. The Feniger-and-Milliken restaurant just earned a Michelin Guide nod, bringing our local count to nine!
🥩 Heads up: Palm Springs staple Billy Reed’s is in escrow. New owners Josh Jennings and Michael Levey are longtime regulars promising no major changes though we suspect they’ll leave their mark.
🌵 Weekend Rituals: Food Trucks & Vintage Finds
Wanderlust Food Truck Fest runs every Saturday evening from 5-10 p.m. at Sunrise Park for food, family fun, and a laid-back vibe.
Palm Springs Vintage Market returns Sunday, July 5, indoors and air-conditioned at The Pavilion (403 S Pavilion Way), 7 a.m.–2 p.m. Entry $10 early, $5 after 8 a.m. — prime hunting for MCM furniture and decor.
