Palm Springs Clears the Clutter, One Piece of Paper at a Time
It may be a little early for spring cleaning, but Palm Springs is having an event to help you declutter at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
It’s community in action, neighbors bringing decades of old receipts, faded bank statements, long-forgotten tax returns and every dusty document in between to a simple but vital event: the City’s Free Shredding Day.
Why it matters
In Palm Springs, a city that thrives on aesthetic simplicity, getting rid of excess isn’t just about making space. It’s about embracing clarity in our lives and protecting what matters. Shredded documents mean fewer worries about identity theft, less household stress, and more mental room to enjoy the things that make living in the desert special.
The event, hosted by the city at the Convention Center from 8 a.m. to noon, is free to the public and open to everyone who dropped by with paper to shred. No appointment. No fee. Just a long line of desert residents and business owners ready to lighten their load.
