The Coachella Valley has become a destination for everything from music festivals and tennis to major comedy tours and NHL hockey. Now, another first is coming to the desert.

From Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2, Acrisure Arena will host the inaugural Dancing With the Stars Con, a three-day fan convention celebrating one of television's most popular competition series. It's the first event of its kind for the Dancing With the Stars franchise and promises to bring ballroom glamour to Greater Palm Springs.

The weekend is scheduled to feature live dance performances, behind-the-scenes panels, interactive fan experiences, photo opportunities and appearances by many of the personalities who have made Dancing With the Stars a television phenomenon. Organizers note that the lineup and schedule are subject to change.

Among the professionals expected to appear is Ezra Sosa, one of the show's fastest-rising stars and a favorite among fans. Sosa recently spoke with The Desert Sun about his love of Palm Springs, what visitors can expect from the inaugural convention and why he's excited to help launch the event in the Coachella Valley.

According to organizers, the convention is also expected to feature judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, along with many current and former professional dancers and celebrity contestants from the show's history.

Whether you're a devoted ballroom fan or simply looking for something different to do this summer, the convention is another reminder that the Coachella Valley continues to attract nationally significant entertainment events well beyond festival season.
